Installation Options and Fees
While it’s possible to skip out on Xfinity’s equipment and installation fees completely, some customers may not have that luxury. On top of the monthly rate for your internet plan, you may expect to pay the following fees.

Professional installation is recommended if you are subscribing to TV service since the setup is more complicated. You should also get a technician to install if you’re not comfortable configuring your own WiFi router. Xfinity's professional installation is only $100.

Self-install Plus is recommended if you’re a Xfinity Internet-only customer, and you want to save on the installation fee. This is also the fastest way to get set up, and in some cases, they will even activate same-day service with technician guidance (even if you’re using your own router). If you’re using a Xfinity router, you’ll pay $39.99 for the self-installation activation fee, which includes your modem and router (or gateway).

Data overage fee: Xfinity internet plans have a data cap of 1.2 TB. Xfinity charges $10 per 50 GB of data exceeded with a maximum charge of $100 per month.
- Equipment lease fee: The xFi Gateway, Xfinity’s router and modem combo, costs $15 per month. Xfinity’s xFi Complete program offers a free modem upgrade every three years and free advanced security, but it’ll cost you $20 per month for the first 12 months.
